New Zealand Student wanting to go to Harvard LIKE A BOSS!

Hey all! My name is Richie and I am currently 16 years olds. I have been dreaming and studying for Ivy League Colleges OR MIT, therefore somehow and someway this website popped out to me.

Anyways, I do have a couple of questions to ask in how to get into Harvard/MIT Science Department side if you get my drift. :P
See, Im really strong and really into Physics,Chemistry,Maths,Computers and also wanting to have a future own business!

Here are the questions.
a) If you are a Harvard Student and you got in to Harvard International like I want to.(AND WILL) Please advise me somehow in steps of studying and.. how it is like there... some financial details as in should I stay in dorms at Harvard for the whole time I will be there at Harvard..etc. If you are a Australian or New Zealander it would be great to answer this question but other overseas country will be fine.

b) In New Zealand, the way of getting into universities here is totally different than USA. In New Zealand we have 2 ways to get in. 1 way is what Im doing is called NCEA. Where in high school for 3 years you study obviously and do the exams matched with the level at those ages. Also in New Zealand we do not use Grades to either know what level of High School we are in or Grades such as A,B,C..etc. To get in to Harvard or other Colleges in the USA, I probably have to attend a New Zealand University for some time then move over to the USA. That's the "Drift" here. My Question here is, Since I am in the overseas, Will I have equal chance of getting into the Colleges because since Im doing the SAT and stuff as normal Americans. Also is SAT the only thing that I have to 'Succeed' in, in order to make my way over to Harvard/MIT and succeed there? Or are there other exams/tests that I must take in order TO get in also succeed there?

c)I know my questions are like extremely epicly (idk if thats even a word xD) long, but please consider this into reading and answering my questions, I am a intelligent and bright student who has great potential and honor towards the goal that he wants to reach. I really really really really really x 1000 want to go to MIT/Harvard and succeed there in order for my future career and future life. Please advise me freely, advice at this state for me would be very helpful.

I am not a full New Zealander (Asian-Korean :P) therefore I guess it is in my blood to try very hard and get in to these colleges not normally... with a scholarship... LIKE A BOSS!

You can ask me questions related to this topic, I will try my best to answer them fast :)

P.S I got this book to help with on taking the SAT and increasing the skills doing it. I tried out the questions and found it pretty easy... The questions in topics such as Mathmatics at the hardest level..I finished 10 questions within around... 10~15 minutes? Anyways I think the education level is different there and here. But.. I STILL WANT TO GO TO HARVARD OR MIT LIKE A BOSS XD

Some more advice that I thought up that I really thought that I really needed( yes I think alot).

Anyways, Thinking, Is there anyone in Auckland Around the North Shore area who can provide me some great info on some places which supports and teaches also does practice exams in preparing for the SAT. You know those kind of places. Anyways, if you can post me some of those info it would really help me actually get on track of my future practically lol!

P.S I really am good and intelligent. But the thing is I really this year decided to really get a grip of my future life. Do not really judge me lol, but advise me so me a Korean-New Zealander, can make it to Harvard or on of the Ivy League Universities in order to fulfil my dreams. Thank you.

Please someone help me with these questions… I know its long but… If you help me… I will love you inside :)

Hey realized that no one answered your question. I don’t go to Harvard (but hopefully I’ll get accepted this spring!) but I can give you some advice because my uncle went there and eventually taught there.

 1. finances: Don;t worry Harvard is need blind. Studying: Get good grades in the most challenging courses in you school, high SAT scores or ACT scores (at least 2000 + or 30 + and that;s on the low end [but I know someone who got in with those scores]), and high SAT II scores.
 2. The SAT is not the only thing, there is the ACT. As a New Zealander, Harvard will evaluate you based on New Zealand’s educational standards and compare them to previous applicant and their standards (but I’m only assuming this)
 3. Only advice I can give you is be your genuine self through your essays, activities and the courses you take. Just hope for the best… but expect the worst (6.(% admission rate). Don;t want to end on a negative note so remember dream big, work hard, and hope you luck is with you.

I’m a kiwi currently studying at an Ivy League institution as an undergraduate here in the states.

What the person above said is absolutely right, but you should do more too. Do extracurricular activities, a sport if you can, and make sure your grades are really good. These institutions aren’t just looking for smart people, they’re looking for people who are great students all round. Every year hundreds of kids with perfect SAT and ACT scores get turned away because they may be lacking in other areas (e.g. social skills) or they are too one dimensional. These schools are well renowned for a reason - essentially, their exclusivity.
On a side note, I realize that English is likely your second language, but seriously you should probably sharpen that up a bit - take some more English at school, proof-read your writing more thoroughly, or get a tutor. From what I’ve read of your posts, you will have a difficult time getting through the very first round of initial application letters etc. (which are important, as they are essentially the first impression the institution will get of you, and they will judge you very quickly based on it).

Good luck.

English is the first language i New Zealand ! How di you get into IVe school? Statat, through your uncle?
