Point well taken, mysticgohan.
It would be foolish of me to assume that getting into Cal is as tough as getting into Stanford, however much I may resent that crooked school down in Palo Alto.
My point is just to highlight the fact for the OP that’s it’s far tougher to get into state schools, with specific reference to Berkeley, as OOS. (Acceptance rate for OOS: 12-15%)

Yeah of course its harder as an OOS but it doesnt really matter if its still easier than some other private schools right? Thats the point we’re trying to make. Not how hard it is but that it is easier than other private schools making them good options for people to explore.

By private schools you mean Caltech, MIT and Stanford for engineering.
Yes, it is easier.

Yep, those are the ones that Cal competes with ;)

totally agree with u mysticgohan, i am OBVIOUSLY not the most informed at college admission information, yea i totally agree, but the thing is its important for us internationals right?! i mean, do u really think they would give u a chance if ur below 2000? nothing else with matter then right? do tick me if am wrong, but i was trying to be valid…

At MIT, Caltech, Berkeley and Stanford, the chances of getting in as an international with a less than 2000 SAT score would be:
Statistically, yes.
In practice, no.

You shall always find people claiming about how they made it with a sub par SAT score but the fact is, that they’re notable because of their claim and it just proves that they’re exceptions to the rule.

If you can’t scrape past 2000, cure cancer or win a Nobel prize. That’d do too. ;)

SAT score isnt as critical for Caltech as it is for the others. The others will look for more rounded applicants but Caltech only cares about how good you are in math and science and the passion you show for them. So if you reflect that well then you have a good shot despite a sub-par SAT score.

Hello. I’m an iternational applicant. I didn’t think i’d be applying to colleges in USA. So i’m totally confused about some very, very fundamental things.

When they say that my school transcripts should be sent from school, do they mean my GC should himself sent them on behalf of the school?? From his place? Or will those be sent from the school office instead??? I’ve never done this before and the same goes for them.
What about the recommendations? Should the teachers sent them directly from their house or on behalf of the school?

Also let’s say they’re done with they’re parts. Can’t i send their letters and the transcripts with my portfolio? Or will i have to send them completely detatched to colleges?
