Can anyone tell me when colleges typically update their information with the audition dates for the upcoming year? I'm a planner and I want to know!

It varies. Early to late fall usually. Don’t count on anything being posted until after the initial start of the new semester. The schools have way too many other things going on.

I did find that with both my DD’s, on-site audition weekends were consistent from year to year. So, if say, a school held auditions on the 2nd weekend of January then it was the same weekend the following year. What I would do would be to find out as many of the audition dates of this past year as are still listed on the school sites and plug them into your audition spreadsheet so you can get a general idea. I would even start making hotel reservations based on that since the closer to audition day hotels may fill up and become more expensive. You can always cancel later on.

Thanks for the reply. That sounds like good advice.

I’m not sure what schools you are looking at, but as of right now Marymount Manhattan, Muhlenberg, and the Hartt School at the University of Hartford have their dates up already!

Thanks JDancer. I saw Muhlenberg when I went back to look at last year’s dates. Also, Ball State is on our list and their dates are up as well.

Follow the requirements for all of the auditions closely. It seems they all want different things - some want resumes, letters of recommendations, essays, etc. We ran into the problem that all of the auditions were the same weekend at various colleges and so we had to choose. You also run into very busy dance schedules with performances, competitions etc, especially in the spring so fall auditions may be better.
