<p>Well, there are a lot of benefits in being in NHS; you get to do community service and qualify for scholarships.</p>
<p>What’s with everyones’ schools’ standards being so low? In mine you need to have had a strong leadership role (and part of the application was an essay on that), ongoing service throughout our time in high school (something that is done x amount of hours every week/every other week), involvement in clubs/activities/sports, a lot of in school service and out of school community service. Also, our NHS does many group service things like going to nursing homes, organize parties for the disabled, and collect donations for our ‘midnight runs’.
Our other honor societies are eh though. The foreign language ones are just have good averages in the subject. For math, besides grades, you need to tutor a lot. Science is the most “hardcore” out of these but not that bad. Grades, tutoring, and 20 hours of laboratory aide.</p>
