"their was a grammarmatical error"

lozlzllzz

^ that was intentional...

i really liked harvard's rejection letter. it actually made me laugh.

every single waitlist letter sucked, majorly.."though your application was impressive, we cannot give you a decision at this time..we know that this is very disappointing.."

i would much rather an outright rejection, saying "you suck".

I actually thought UCB was pretty nice about it.

Dear ----,

Thank you for applying to UC Berkeley. After careful consideration, we are sorry that we are unable to offer you admission for the fall semester 2007.

Our decisions were very difficult this year, as competition for fall admission was exceptionally rigorous. We were able to admit less than a quarter of the 44,000-plus applicants, all of whom were very well qualified. We regret that many very talented and promising students will not be included in our freshman class as a result of this high level of selectivity. We have prepared the answers to some frequently asked questions which provide additional information about our selection process and, we hope, address many of your concerns.

Given your academic qualifications, we know that you will receive other attractive college offers and wish you every success in achieving your educational goals.

Sincerely,
WR sign

Director

Brown's rejection letter touched me.
I wasn't a big fan of Cornell's.

Princeton's was terrible. It was blunt, straightforward and made it seem as though the applicant was merely an application to be rejected and not a human who had spent lot of time and effort in making the application presentable and outstanding.

Dear Mr. Anyman

Thank you applying to Da Gama University in the City of Metropolis. We regret to inform you that we cannot admit you to Da Gama at this time. We know you have devoted great effort to your studies in high school and especially to your application, and this makes it so difficult to turn away so many outstanding applicants. We know that this is extremely shameful for you, and so we will send you in the mail a harakiri knife so you may commit seppuku and safe face. It is the best we can offer you and your family at this point.

Sincerely,

Joy Sorrow
Dean of Admissions

Some of Cornell's are pretty nice, because they offer the Guaranteed Transfer option.

my cornell rejection was about 3 sentences long, mean people!!!!

i got a nice one from ucsb. but as far as uci goes...
"We are sorry that we are not able to offer you admission for fall quarter, 2007.

Information for Applicants Not Offered Admission

Your application to UC Irvine is now closed."

LOL.....gee thanks,

My rejection letter from Columbia wasn't bad. I didn't read all of the rejection letter online from Northwestern, though. I saw both of those rejections coming but the second one just made me too disappointed to continue reading.

Dartmouth's was very nice i thought.

Dear *******,

I regret to inform you that we cannot offer you admission to the Class of 2011 at Dartmouth. During the past few months as we evaluated more than 14,000 applications, we have tried to bring to our deliberations the care and intensity that you brought to your application. Our selection process did give us the opportunity to fully evaluate your candidacy.

The selection process does not separate qualified from unqualified applicants. We are convinced that most candidates for admission to Dartmouth would thrive academically and personally at the College. Of the many strong students in our applicant pool, an overwhelming majority are destined to perform extremely well in their college years. It is only the highly selective nature of the competition for admission that prevents us from offering more of our applicants a place at Dartmouth. This is one of the few times we wish we had a larger student body so that we could enroll more students.

The disappointment we feel in sending you this news is tempered by our knowledge that you will be successful at the institution you choose to attend. Best wishes for the next four years.

Sincerely,

Karl M. Furstenberg
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

I haven't received my Cornell rejection letter yet, but the rejection message I received on their self-service page was pretty blunt. I think Northwestern's was the harshest; they pretty much just told me, "We realize the news of your rejection is disappointing and have therefore included a list of the reasons why you were rejected."

Brown was quite nice.
Vassar was bad, those people are rude.

Wait, they told you why you were rejected? Weird.

Hey, you can't beat the rejection process for UK universities. There's a little table with all your choices listed in it, and the last column simply says 'unsuccessful'. How demoralising.

MIT's rejection letter was gentle, but rang a bit false (of course). Cornell's and Princeton's were just a bit nasty.
