Nine More Days: my thoughts on this process

Hey CCers who are also applying SCEA to Princeton,
I never expect to get into Princeton. In fact, I think it would take more than a miracle for me to be selected. There used to be a time when I did not even want to go to college. You see, I wanted to be an entrepreneur, so a college degree didn't matter to me. Of course, after my father basically nagged me into applying for college, I had my sights on the most prestigious school there is. Princeton. Needless to say, if you are applying SCEA, P must be your favorite too.
Since deciding to take a shot, I had been obsessed with the decision. I know there is a 99.9% chance that I will get rejected and it will be hard to swallow. Because although I know my life will not depend on this P degree, I will still take the decision pretty personally.
Okay. So I prepared for the emotional turmoil I will most definitely endure by watching videos of other people getting rejected from their dream schools. I cried like a maniac.
After getting all that out of my system, I decide to do one thing. If I was to get rejected (extremely likely.....) I would treasure that rejection letter. That "you are not good enough" message will be my fuel to power through the rest of my life on. I swear to God that if I was rejected, I will print out the rejection message and frame it above my bed. I will make an altar out of that thing and force myself to read the message aloud everyday.
Because I will spend the rest of my life proving them wrong. Yes! They will regret not seeing my potential. I feel the fire burning even now. The pain of rejection will become the fuel of motivation. I swear to God that I will be reborn within the fire.
Cheers b*tches,

Well, it’s good that you’re motivated to work hard, but maybe, instead of working to prove a rejection wrong, you should work hard because it makes you happy! You have the entrepreunerial spirit inside you and that’s great  Instead of looking from external validation from a school that doesn’t know you like you know yourself, look for contentment in stretching yourself, and you can expand your horizons at any college you go to, or even if you don’t go to any colleges, as long as you’re willing to learn, make mistakes, and learn more from your mistakes! Sorry, if I’m being too preachy, but I hope that your life isn’t fueled by revenge, but by the goal to better yourself. Best of luck in whatever you choose to do :)

We don’t usually need a framed letter to remind ourselves of our failures.

zzzzzzzzzzz

tiger96- what’s so screwed up about your post is that you have it definitely in your mind that if P rejects you, it’ll be a statement of “you are not good enough”.

+80% of P applicants are good enough. But there aren’t enough seats – *what about this simple math eludes you? *

I have no idea if you’re in that 80% or not but you’re quite foolish to turn around and harbor ill-will against Princeton (or any other school that rejects you). I get you’re probably doing some pre-decision ranting and emotions are behind your post but really? You’ve likely been at the top of every class in your entire life. Now reality might dump a bucket of cold water on you. Sorry but no sympathy here.

^What he said.

On the flip side, if you do get in, PM me! :)

^Do you happen to know how many people got in through Questbridge?

It’s almost as if you want to get rejected. Happiness in misery, I suppose. Not uncommon.

@1sparkle2: This year 440 applicants were matched.
