NM Finalist status super helpful?

Even though many of the top-tier schools will not offer money or anything to NM Finalists, they do care...right? Do students who are named NM Finalists have any sort of significant edge over those who are not?

Also, do the colleges get some sort of master Finalist list? Even though I couldn't put that I was a Finalist on any of the forms that were due months ago, will the colleges take the time to sort through the 15,000 some Finalists to see if any are applying to their school?

I'm looking for any sort of boost I can get...I'm starting to get really antsy! :S

I wouldn't say a significant edge but it does help. It just means you took the PSAT well and SATs show standardized test taking ability anyhow.

Bump to this, I'm curious too :)

Not really any boost for "top 10" level of university.

I believe from all I have read and researched on CC that it is a great honor but probably not a tip for top schools. It is primarily a scholarship honor. If it were of importance in the decision making then I think there would be a space for it by the other test scores. However- it is a great accomplishment and you should be very proud. If you let them know you were a semi-finalist they will probably assume you are a finalist if you took the SAT's so no worry there.
