Hi, I did a thread earlier looking for schools to apply to. Now I'm trying to look for schools that I can get a full ride or have tuition paid for by the college. Since most of them seem to have political science, I've been trying to find one that offers a Chinese major or minor, but Oklahoma is the only one I've found so far that has both. Does anybody know how good these programs are at any of the schools that give scholarship to National Merit Finalists?

There is a sub-forum of Financial Aid just for National Merit. Here are two key threads:

There are a lot of knowledgeable parents and others who regularly post around here. Hopefully, they can help!

I think you are far better off throwing your net first for colleges that will give you max merit and FA; then you can toss any that don’t fit your urban, size, nearby LDS institute, etc. criteria; and finally, you can cull the unlikely school or two that doesn’t offer both poli sci and Chinese–they’re very popular majors, I believe you will find them at most schools. What’s left will be your core group to investigate further for specific political science, Chinese and perhaps even combo program features (look for things like Asian Studies, go to the Chinese department website and search for special programs, in Poli Sci you may similarly find tracks related to Chinese relations, also in International Relations sequences, you get the picture–a little digging can illuminate a lot).

Good luck!

Thank you so much. I was actually highly interested in Alabama when I heard about there scholarship, but it didn’t look like they offered Chinese, at least according to College Board, and I couldn’t find it myself on the website.

PoliSci is really easy to find at the schools that give full rides, but it seems hard to find Chinese, possibly because of their locations in the south.

I believe there are 8 unis in the US that participate in the Chinese Flagship program.

If you google that phrase you should get info on all. Look into it!
