No academic probation at UMD?

I got a 1.7 my first semester. You’re on academic probation if your cumulative gpa falls below a 2.0. Therefore, I would be placed on academic warning if that even exists correct since I don’t have a cumulative gpa just semester right? According to umd a cumulative gpa is all your semesters combined not just one correct?

Your first semester GPA is your cumulative GPA at this point.

Not according to my school

You got a 1.7 GPA and as you admit in another thread you “slacked off”. Get your act together next semester and possibly transfer to another college.

No way. Oops everyone fails at one point. I’ve learned my lesson…

I really can’t answer your question, but I believe your cumulative GPA after your first semester is the GPA you received that semester. Second semester the cumulative would be the combination of classes from first and second semester, and it goes on from there. UMD MAY have a freshman forgiveness clause for first semester.

You only have one semester. Therefore, all your semesters combined is… your one semester.

Except that in your other thread you state that UMD considers a cumulative GPA to be “all your semesters combined”. If you only have one semester… your cumulative GPA is that of that semester.

Furthermore, a two second Google search turned up this:

http://www.umd.edu/catalog/index.cfm/show/content.section/c/27/ss/1584/s/1539

No ambiguity or wiggle room there. Case closed.

It does have freshman forgiveness. I heard cumulative is 2 semesters.

Don’t fret. There is a learning curve. Many students find the first year of college to be tough and eye opening.
