For the first time I attended a national research poster competition and presented my poster and ended up without an award. In the event there was a total of 90 participants out of 500 applicants, with top 6 awards and 10 honorable mention awards, giving a total of 16 awards. The poster had my name and PI's name on it.
Should I still put my poster competition exp on my app?
Wouldn't it look bad cause I didn't win anything?

As I have said many times, it's nice if you get a pub or win an award. But, at the undergrad level, med schools care more about what YOU got out of your research.

Hey ysk1, I'm just curious about your experience at the conference, since i will be attending one in late november. Is it just like a typical poster symposium? Anyone who has been to one could answer this question too. And i am just guessing that if you do win something, its just frosting on the top of one's medical application?

On the AMCAS, there is a section for "conferences attended" - you can put it under that heading, and then explain that you presented something in the description.

I never attended a poster symposium before so I don't know if it's like that. Also, the one I attended was a poster competition, not a conference, though I don't know if there's much difference between the two.
