Hi, I'm applying for the Information Systems as my first choice and Decision Sciences as my second. However, I don't have calculus - I'm taking statistics this year. Has anyone gotten into CMU without calculus under their belt?

I have. Don’t worry, the Calc 1 (differential and integrals) class is deifinitely passable without prior calc experience. However, just be aware that many of the other students have already taken calculus before. So the class will be pretty fast-paced as for everyone else it will be more of a “review”. The first few weeks you may feel like you’re behind but just make sure to study appropriately on your own and you will be fine.

Thanks so much - what is your major, by the way?

I’m currently a Biomed/MechE double-major. One of my good friends is IS however and we take the same math courses. From what I understand though, IS has a lot more electives and therefore has a much more flexible schedule
