No hot eggs and bacon?

<p>My D doesn’t go to Harvard, but she almost teared up when I told her about this. She is like Bay’s D not missing breakfast EVER! She claims the fried eggs are the favorite breakfast item at her school and she eats them at least 5 mornings a week. Maybe she needs a cholesterol test. :(</p>

<p>I think newest studies are showing that people who eat breakfast (not doughnuts or muffins) are less likely to be overweight. Now on the other hand, people who eat late night snacks and who stay up late are more likely to be fat. I go for the breakfast-but I can see that financially it makes some sense to get rid of the hot breakfast-if no one eats it.</p>

<p>Yes, oatmeal will still be served in all of the houses. Which is what I ate for breakfast in Annenberg anyway so…</p>

<p>I like oatmeal. I had it for breakfast. Sure, it’s a little bland, but it certainly satisfies the stomach well enough.</p>

<p>I’d be surprised if there is a nutritionist alive who advocates midnight meals for anyone.</p>

<p>Ah, but Felipe’s does a roaring business out of late night snacks (according to S who does not eat breakfast). No matter how nutritious some foods are, they aren’t going to do anybody any good if they are end up in a waste pile. Harvard is redirecting its food money where it actually does the most good–as in being consumed.</p>

<p>Son has had trouble keeping his weight up at Harvard. He says dinner is always chicken . . . he says the only really good meal is breakfast, especially the eggs and bacon. Oh well.</p>

It goes beyond that. Individuals who have eggs for breakfast gain less weight in the long run than individuals who have toast for breakfast. Suffice it to say, of course, that toast for breakfast is at least better than doughnuts or muffins, though.</p>

<p>Sometimes I wonder how much smarter would the non-breakfast eating Harvard students be if they ate breakfast…</p>

Agreed. That’s because eggs contain more proteins than toast (which is usually made of white flour) which means that it keeps people less hungry for longer period of time.</p>
