@LeftofPisa That’s a very good thought. The HS wouldn’t have a problem with taking stats at the CC. And cool bonus getting actual college credit for the work. For some reason HS insists on monopoly power over art and CTE requirement fulfillment. We love the local CC.

Our school district offers summer classes online for health which D took full advantage of. It freed up another class period (she also took chemistry at local community college in summer) so she would have a study hall but could still take several AP classes her junior year, as well as keep up with her varsity swim schedule. If your son is willing to put the work in for a summer to make his schedule a little easier, it’s worth it. D was able to take the most rigorous course load available her junior and senior years without feeling overwhelmed. She wasn’t happy about spending a summer in school but is delighted her hard work has allowed her to apply to some excellent colleges.

@pacpac The boys enjoy taking courses in the summer. S2 took chem summer after freshman in order to qualify for AP Bio sophomore year (same as S1 did). They like the concentrated time focusing on just one or two subjects. Still plenty of time for club sports and friends.
