No response form interviewers?

I have already contacted three people for an alumni interview. Only 1 has responded and he said he no longer does interviews. There is only one person left listed for my area. Should I request that person or should I contact vanderbilt? Has anyone else had similar problems?

I contacted SIX people and no one responded. I called the admissions office twice to express my concern and never got a phone call back. I’m really frustrated and if this affects my application at all I’m going to be really angry hahaha so you’re not alone

I don’t understand why Vanderbilt offers alumni interviews if none of the people are willing to give interviews. My guidance counselor offered to call admissions so I might take her up on her offer.

elitesrbluecheer and aimeenard - Our son was never able to schedule an interview last year. He is now a happy freshman at Vanderbilt, so I guess the interview wasn’t essential. Wishing you both the best in your college search and admissions.

elitesrbluecheer and aimeenard, where are you located? I know somebody in admissions, maybe I can help.

I applied ED1 so my deadline has passed. I’m hoping it doesn’t affect my application.

dtotheustin09 I live in south florida

i had the same problem…the one guy i contacted took forever to respond and when he did he informed me that he lives in england. great. lol i live in the northeast, thats not going to help me

the 4th and last interviewer that lives in my area just sent me an email saying she is out of town for the next 2 months

After contacting three people I finally was able to schedule an interview. Considering the unavailability of the interviews, I think its safe to say that interviews are not that important.

aimeenard,

Did you try the contact email that was listed in the email that tells how to schedule your alumni interview? Are there any other people in your area? My daughter also applied ED1 and she requested her first interview and waited the 7 days stated in the email and didn’t hear anything. She then requested an interview with a 2nd person but this was past the November 6th cut off and that person accepted and scheduled it for this Thursday. Hopefully they just look at when your initial request was made and maybe you can still interview if there are people in your area.

Where are you located? I thought I saw in another forum (maybe Duke?) that you are from Indiana. We are in Indy and I will tell you that the 2nd person she contacted responded within a day. Not sure how far away you are but that may be an option.

As an alumni interviewer, I would not worry about not being interviewed. I don’t know that it matters much. It does show interest. Most people from my area are not able to visit vandy because of distance/expense. So, in that case, it may be a way to gain further insight. I treat it as an exchange of information. I went there and I have a daughter there, so I feel I have something to offer

There is a new blog posting on the Vandy Admissions blog regarding the Alumni Interview.
