<p>I just learned today about the Visiting Student Program (VUS) at Harvard College. </p>
<p>According to a 2010 Harvard Crimson article,
"in fall 2010, just 47 applied for the VUS Program. Of those applicants, 32 were admitted, and 30 decided to attend—21 are here for just the fall semester, and 9 will stay for the full year."</p>
<pre><code>The article also states that Harvard does not heavily promote the program. I also understand that even if you took a "semester/year away" at Harvard, you would not get a degree from Harvard.
However reading this, my jaw dropped. 32/47 admitted in 2010??
I searched online and could find limited information, so I just emailed Harvard to ask how many students were accepted this year. Does anyone happen here to know the VUS stats?
With around 34,000ish high school applicants applying in recent years, I would think more think just 47 students would be interested?
I'm a current undergrad freshman premed attending my safety school. I was interested in applying to transfer to Harvard this spring and noticed the tiny VUS link.
I was thinking of studying abroad during the summer before my senior year b/c med schools frown upon premed reqs taken away from the home university. However, if I take a junior year "abroad" to Harvard, I would think that my credits would transfer back and be acceptable to med schools?

<p>I'm very curious about this program. If anyone has any information, please share!</p>
