I may or may not be taking a science course as a sophomore (instead, another math class in its place). At our HS, Bio is the required science course as a sophomore but I was able to take it as a freshman, so I would be taking Chem as a sophomore. However, our school only offers regular Chem. My plan was to take Honors Chemistry over the summer for the required credit (it will be calculated into my GPA), take a 'year off' of science at school (while self studying APES and taking the test), and jump into AP Bio as a Junior. Will not having a science course as a 10th grader on my transcript hurt me in the long run? All of my other courses are the most rigorous possible. Thank you in advance =)

What about physics? You can’t not take physics, physics is awesome.

Well I’m not really sure… The only time I would be able to take it would be as a Senior, and I’d either take honors or reg (AP not offered). I’ll probably end up taking regular Physics with AP Chem but I have no idea as of now! Would not taking Physics work against me if my prospective major has nothing to do with math or science?

Everyone should take physics for the top schools. Think of it this way: There will be a ton of humanities applicants just as qualified as you with physics, so it would put you behind all of them.

Hmm, thanks! I will look into that but I’ll probably take it as a senior then. But back to the original question: how would not taking chemistry through my HS affect me?

Take physics as a sophomore, you need to take 4 years science.

I’ve also considered that as well. So taking a course over the summer for credit doesn’t count as a ‘year’? And will not taking Honors Physics be a bad thing? I am definitely not a science person hahah

I am currently not doing a science this year, which is my junior year.

Although first semester next year I’m taking Honors Chemistry, Physics, and Calculus, and probably a second semester of Physics depending on my second semester schedule.

Bump! 10char

Bump anyone?
