No sophomore internship

Couldn't get any internships for sophomore summer... How much does this hurt when time comes around for junior recruiting? Any advice on what should I do next?

You’re giving up that easily? You can still land some quality internships at local private wealth management branches or some local venture capitalist firms.

I already did global wealth management with ML during the school year. I was trying to get something other than GWM because I don’t want to make it seem like this is what I’m aiming for.

I’m on the Bay Area btw, so I’m not sure if there are as many financial firms as the East Coast.

Sure you keep thinking that.
Now I know why don’t have an internship.

Yea seriously dude, its April 9th…you have at least a month. Pathetic is the only adjective right now. Keep trying! You’ll land something, good luck! :)

It’s still really early in the cycle for small boutique IB, PE, Consulting, VC, etc positions. Your goal right now should be to land anything relevant to IB. H*ll, start cold calling and emailing for unpaid positions. It’s not an easy business to get into - remember that - you can’t give up easily.

On a side note - if you can’t find anything, it’s not going to break you in terms of SA junior recruiting. Network hard, keep your grades up and you should be in decent shape.

PM me if you have other questions or need someone to glance at your resume - which often causes a lot of problems for people.

IBanker

Contact the CFO of your school, they usually have the best contacts. Let them know your interested in an internship this summer. Out of nowhere my school’s CFO remembered a conversation we had and forwarded an email to an IB Managing Director and now I might be interning with them…its all about who you know!! And stalk craigslist, you never know who will be posting something. At least if you get a quantitative analysis internship it would look good, these days IB’s want students with more technical skills.
