I'm heading to a new high school this year, and by new I mean the school is brand new. It doesn't offer any sports! Will hurt my chances of getting into a decent college? (I do Tae Kwon Do, outside of school and am earning my blackbelt in October)

It shouldn’t affect your chances. Colleges will see that your school doesn’t offer sports. Continue with Tae kwon do and try to get involved in your school in some other way.

I’m not sure why people think sports are so important outside the realm of middle-class white entertainment, but please stop assuming that you need to change your name to Chad, become class prom president, and lead the football team to get into college.

My brother’s school offered sports but he did not participate in any. He got a perfect score on the SAT and was valedictorian, he got into good colleges, sports aren’t everything and also if your school doesn’t offer it, its even better for you.

You don’t need to do any specific ECs (sports, music, etc.). Most colleges don’t even care much about ECs in general.

I would argue against the idea that most colleges don’t care about ECs, they do. But they don’t care if you do a specific type of EC, as long as you excel in it. I got into college with no sports, my cousin got into the big H without any sports. It’s really not a big deal, and if it isn’t offered, oh well. Your participation of Tae Kwan Do outside of school, I believe, is already more than sufficient.

Most colleges accept most of their applicants, so your ECs don’t have to be anything special to get in.
