No tea to drink on campus?

<p>Parent here considering a HS summer BYU program. We have never been to the campus.</p>

<p>I don’t have any real problems with the honor code except for the prohibition of drinking tea. I’d rather my kid be drinking tea than soda’s / pop ?</p>

<p>According to reseach out of the UK (European Journal of Clinical Nutrition), "Tea not only rehydrates as well as water does, but it can also protect against heart disease and some cancers, UK nutritionists found.</p>

<p>Experts believe flavonoids are the key ingredient in tea that promote health. … Dr Ruxton said: “Drinking tea is actually better for you than drinking water. Water is essentially replacing fluid. Tea replaces fluids and contains antioxidants so it’s got two things going for it.”</p>

<p>What beverages are available in the cafeteria and food service places beside water? Are soft drinks being offered instead (I hope not)?</p>

<p>There is no tea, but there is milk – lots of milk – and juices. Soda is available, just as it is available on all college campuses. Bottled water is also easy available. Your son would have to go off campus to find tea or coffee. FWIW, Mormons do not drink tea that stems from tea leaves (black and green teas) but they do drink tea that stems from flowers, such as Chrysanthemum tea.</p>

<p>I haven’t researched it, but I would assume something like cranberry juice is just as healthy as tea if not healthier.</p>

<p>No tea, but plenty of non-alcoholic, caffeine-free drinks.</p>
