I'm considering applying, but I'm not a drinker and I don't like the idea of partying like crazy. Does Greek life/drinking/partying overwhelm the social scene at Vanderbilt? Would a non-drinker feel ostracized?

Drunk people are definitely in your face on the weekends. You’ll see lots of drunk people walking around at night and hear all kinds of loud music. But if you don’t go around Frat Row and keep yourself occupied on the weekends, it isn’t too bad. It’s not like EVERYONE at Vanderbilt (or any college, for that matter) drinks. I’d give a rough guesstimate that about half of students don’t drink.

I agree with Visions. I am a light-moderate drinking GDI and I have not been to one frat party yet. I’m having a fantastic time.

A lot of people do drink, but keep in mind this doesn’t mean like 24/7, it means they drink occasionally. I don’t drink at all and as of now I don’t feel that left out at all – you’ll definitely find people who respect or share your values, so you’ll be fine.
