Non-Greek, Preppy Colleges?

Thanks!! @iamthisperson44

Villanova has a robust Greek life community.

Wash u has Greek life albeit not huge

Yale has Greek life.

Presence of Greek life goes not mean dominance by it. My kid went to Dickinson, which has Greek life. She didn’t participate, and didn’t find that to be an issue.

Providence College - no greek life, very preppy.

Funny how no one would question if someone came here and asked for hipster-type colleges or geeky colleges. Lots of people seem to take issue with the word “preppy”. I think of a preppy school as one that is fairly mainstream, not a lot of alternative type kids and not a lot of political activists, lots of clean cut kids, maybe sporty. I don’t equate the term preppy with “devil’s spawn”.

Who’s equating preppy with anything negative here? I’ve looked through the thread and posted myself and I see a bunch of helpful answers.

@doschicos there were a couple of posts asking why someone would seek a preppy school and similar comments. I just think it’s funny how no one would ask why someone was seeking a hippy school etc.

Yale has greek life BTW to above poster (#2, cross posted with #23) No Greek life at all? Davidson has eating houses or something like that. Sewanee and probably some others have greek life but they have regional/local sororities and fraternities - not National ones. Not sure if that tones it down or makes it more acceptable.

About 30% of Wash U students join Greek life. That’s higher than some schools that are considered huge centers of Greek life, like UGA and Texas.

middlebury definitely,
