Hi everyone,
Currently I'm not into the entire party scene drinking and smoking daily/weekly. I am planning on attending Bloomsburg University which is known to be huge on parties. Do you think I'd still be able to fit in despite not liking to drink/smoke often?

A Mom here. DS is the definition of non-partier and will be attending a place that has a party reputation.

Find out about quiet, scholars or substance free housing options. Here’s the thing…the party will not come find you, drag you out of your studies, dorm room or non-partier group of friends all the while kicking and screaming. If you avoid the known problem areas/people, form your own friendship group and develop activities you enjoy that do not involve the party life style. You will be just fine.

All party schools have a group of kids who do not party or party every now and then. It’s just a matter of finding them and not judging anyone because of different lifestyles.

I’ve never seen anyone get shunned for not being into the party scene, and I go to a pretty big party school. Essentially, you’ll get invited to go to parties, but if you keep declining, people will stop asking until you just never get invited anymore. But, do you really want to get invited to the next big rager? lol

As a freshman at a huge party school, I know tons of people who don’t drink and never party at all. You will find them, and as a matter of fact, all of you will kind of attract towards each other and form your friend group.

You’ll be fine. Try to find a quiet dorm, though.
