North Campus for Freshman?

My daughter will be enrolling at UNC this Fall. She wants a social atmosphere (not necessarily a “party” atmosphere) and proximity to classes. I think North Campus might be a good fit, but she’s worried that South Campus is where all the freshman excitement is and doesn’t want to miss out. Granville seems a bit too Greek for my taste, but she would be OK with it.

Any advice? Is North Campus a bad choice for a freshman?

Thanks!

Granville has something like 800 students, so not all Greek, but it is where most of those who want to go Greek live since it is closer to the fraternity and sorority houses. South Campus is where the majority of freshman live, so will be livelier for a freshman just due to size. I wouldn’t worry too much about being close to classes as nothing is too far. My D lived in Granville her freshman year and was very happy there, but she also pledged a sorority. There are benefits to both North and South campus depending on what you want.

I forgot to mention, she is also an Honors student so would be eligible for honors housing in Horton.
