@NerdyChica , yes, clearly the reputation and ranking of Duke is well known. If I can find the article I loosely referred to, I will share it. http://www.inc.com/brian-hamilton/why-the-research-triangle-is-the-best-place-for-entrepreneurship-in-the-u-s.html
My point is that NC State is an excellent choice and there is some debate that it’s graduates are well prepared to demonstrate their value in the professional realms. I was offering reasons why NCSU was a better choice than OSU. Your opinion and passion is welcome.
I’ve hired a lot of engineers in my life. One of the worst was a Duke graduate. She was very stuck up and spent way too much time over analyzing problems. She thought very highly of her Duke degree. If you are wanting to go to graduate school then Duke is obviously a great choice.
For most engineering jobs, I would rather have an engineer from NCSU, VT, GT, Clemson, OSU etc. USNEWS has NCSU ranked 27 and Duke 30, but I would not put them that close. State graduates a lot of engineers. Their career fair is one of the largest in the nation for a reason. I would have loved for my children to go to my alma mater, but I am very happy with NCSU. My oldest had multiple job offers in October all above national average pay 7 months before she graduates. Her 4 years of tuition was less than one semester of Duke.
@kennettsq and @motortrend: from our experience, financial aid and scholarship info didn’t come out until mid-April or later.
@trusting: I was told by financial aid during the experience NC State day, they are trying to have everything out by April 1st or at the latest the 1st week of April.
@fflmaster - Great news! I was sharing mainly for those disappointed in not getting aid offers in their acceptance letters from State, since several universities do send their awards with acceptances or very close in mailings.
I called and they said that they would be out the 2nd week of April but it didn’t sound like they give much in the way of aid
Our last visit is April 4th at Purdue.
Only college we don’t have the package yet is NC State.
Hopefully, we get it by the time we are back.
Is first year Exploratory studies?
