Northeastern Class of 2027 Official Thread

The last wave did not have any rejects or waitlists as far as I have seen. Only NU.in and global scholars. So this wave may not include them either. From the EA round, I recall Deferrals and rejects were released last.

I feel like it would be cruel to announce all Boston acceptances tomorrow and then wait a whole week to give all waitlists & rejections. Why not just give those tomorrow too? Or maybe they WILL give the rejections tomorrow but at the END of the night? Hard to predict! Good luck everyone!!!

There is clearly one more wave after this. It seems like they do it in serial.

Does anyone know the 2023-24 tuition and room & board rates and how much it increased from last year? We have received financial aid packages from a few schools that showed a much higher price tag than we had written down based on 2022-23. Just trying to prep for the sticker shock.

Just checked in my portal - originally the “Awaiting decision” thing disappeared but now its back. Anyone else?

Yep; it’s like they saw this thread LOL

No one is waitlisted EA. The decisions were accept, defer or reject. There were a few denials posted on that thread.

I don’t remember the exact amount, but when we got our son’s official financial package, it was higher than the pre-read. The pre-read was based on the current tuition and the official package for the 23-24 year. So it seems they adjusted the aid to match the tuition increase.

Their policy is to increase need based grants by the same percentage as the tuition increase. Merit aid does not increase.

Yes. When we got the official package I thought they gave us more than the pre-read had shown. They asked for additional documents between the two. Then I realized it was because of the adjusted tuition. So the COA was about or exactly the same.

Same here. Disappeared and now it’s back.

Guys, if you go to TikTok and search northeastern and you scroll down to a video made by Daniel, he got his decision last week. Many people in the comments mention that they were rejects/waitlists with minimal acceptances. Just wanted you guys to know!

My son was deferred EA and accepted to NU (it’s not NEU) RD so it happens. My D was waitlisted at 3 schools and did not get off the waitlists so I think that is less likely. NU has an active thread because 96,000 students applied and it has different admission options that are new this year. Although NUin is not new, many people want more info about it.

Not directed to you but just reading some of the comments about NU stirring the pot or playing games, I don’t agree. The college admissions process seems often unfair with lower stat kids being accepted over high stats kids. Columbia said they could fill the class seven times over with qualified students. I understand the disappointment and seeming unfairness of the admissions process but disagree about the games-playing comments. If a student doesn’t like the program they are accepted to, just say no.

This is really good to know! And they do have the Northeastern Promise that pretty much guarantees the price will stay the same all 4 years, so that’s a plus. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing.

Found the 2023-24 tuition (see below.) They offered us $49,500 overall aid assistance in the pre-read and it looks like they were going off these numbers so it would come out to about $31,500, a similar COA to our Case Western package. Our lowest offer right now is $16k COA and our EFC is $17k to give perspective.

Can I familiarize you with the concept of college admissions real quick

Yes, sometimes I think cruel is the theme of this madness! :woman_facepalming:
