Northeastern Class of 2027 Official Thread

What acceptances does she have right now?

I am in the exact same boat as you even tho I was waitlisted, I am concerned about BU and NYU if I didnā€™t get into Northeasternā€¦

Same profile except prelaw. My D23 has been waitlisted at 7 schools.

Uconn
Umass Amherst
UNH
USF
I think we pretty much considered these her safety schools and thought she would get in. Itā€™s all the target schools that have been the disappointment.

My son was denied after being deferred but it was expected as we felt it was always a longshot for him. Even if he had been accepted the cost would likely have been more than other options and probably not his best fit either. He liked his visit and he did get a bit caught up in the hype over the school and popularity with friends for a short time but his interest waned after admissions process went on. We also had concerns over housing and overcrowding from speaking with relatives enrolled there now. For those who did have their hopes pinned on NE and were disappointed, hope you land someplace you love!

Happened to us tooā€¦ The ones that we thought she had a strong chance did not convert or are waitlisted. But I think the best way forward is to listen to the universe and see where its guiding us. May seem a little philosophical, but she will land up where she belongs. One year from now, she will be happy she went thereā€¦

Iā€™m sorry this is happening to her. I donā€™t know what sheā€™s already done, but I might suggest that she spend this time researching more about the schools where she is accepted. She might fall in love with one of them. :slightly_smiling_face: My kid has an acceptance at a top school that we may not be able to make happen. Heā€™s taking time doing this while he waits for final offers, and finding out cool things.

Indeed, my daughter has actually grown to like the ones she was accepted in, and they are good schools, just not her reach. She wanted to go to a reach school, but has only one such offer that is not working out for other reasons.

Weā€™re in a similar boat, with a reach offer that may not work out. All I can add is that sheā€™s not alone.

My S23 was deferred in EA and then accepted RD on the Oakland campus. Between merit (a $10K Deanā€™s Scholarship) and need-based aid (about $32K), it came in pretty close to our EFC. We did not do the NPC previously.

It frankly amounted to more financial aid than we expected.

Is there a way to find out which NU.in locations are no longer available (full)?

My guess is you log into your NUin portalā€¦

Son waitlisted at Northeastern but accepted at BU for the same mechanical engineering major. You never know.

We just wished Northeastern good luck and removed our app from the waiting list. What a journey! EA deferred and then waitlisted RD.

Question about removing from the waitlist. Since thereā€™s still a chance, why remove from waitlist? Iā€™m just curious if thereā€™s a reason other than wanting to move on.

We got other better options to consider already.

A bit off-topic but my son was in EA for the 3 years London/1 year Boston; however, he just received a note that he can choose to do 3 years in Boston now ā€“ anyone elseā€™s child get this? Is it a change in policy?

If that is true, NEU has become like a bazaar where they negotiate with students/families to protect their bloated yield/application submission rates and to fill their different campuses. All the best. But not a good look for a prestigious university.

If she has UVA or UNC as in in-state option and likes it, that is GREAT. Even if sheā€™s not in-state, those are both still great options. Same with Pitt! Congrats and good luck!

Now got the e-mail ā€“ Looks as if they are offering this to all London students this year since the 3 years in London is new. May largely be for the reasons you state but I believe there was quite a bit of confusion on the London offers/options this year.
