Northeastern Class of 2027 Official Thread

I don’t follow it that closely but I think people have complained about that in the past and the college is not required to disclose that info.

They will eventually have to disclose offers and acceptances for the Boston campus in the common data set, but otherwise, yes. Other schools do provide this information even if not required (for example, Emory provides pretty detailed information about the number of acceptances and qualifications of its students admitted to the Oxford campus).

Not looking to debate. It doesn’t bother me.

CDS only tracks fall admits, not NUIN etc. those programs have been around for years and are not regularly reported on. Parents often report numbers they here in parent presentations once kids are admitted to those programs. I think they said they admitted around 1500-1900 for London and Oakland and hoped to have a class size of 350 at each this fall.

My DS was accepted and we committed to Global Scholars last night. It showed an NU email address, but my DS doesn’t know how to access it. Suggestions?

Does anyone know what the minimum standard course load is for first year students? Is it possible to take 3 courses the first term without a special accommodation?

You need 12 credits to be a full-time undergraduate student. I think you would need an accommodation to take less.

Thanks - do you know if 12 credits is 3 classes or 4?

Some of the classes have labs. Would it be science classes?

Comp sci x business major - not traditional science classes, although I don’t know if comp sci classes have labs?

Have you seen this “plan of study“ for the computer science + business major at Northeastern? Northeastern does a really good job of laying out standard plans for each of their majors. If you click on the name of each class, it will tell you how many hours it is, as well as giving you a description of the class.

ETA: actually, it tells the number of hours each class counts for in the chart itself. It looks like you could reach 12 hours with only three classes, but you would not be on track to graduate in four years. I guess if you had sufficient AP credit coming in, maybe you could stay on track?

This is awesome, thank you. If a kid is going to take a slightly lighter load the first semester, I guess they could just postpone one of the classes on the list then? Is that allowed?

My son is an Econ and Business major. All of his classes have been 4 credits except for a one credit co-op preparation class. If you are a NU Parent, I recommend joining the NU Parents Facebook group. A very knowledgeable and helpful group of people.

Just be careful of prerequisite requirements for advanced courses. Also, tuition for 12 credits is the same as for 16 credits.

Did anyone already get a spot off the waitlist?

A friend’s daughter was offered a spot off the waitlist to the London program a few weeks ago.

If any new Boston students are interested in learning about the outdoors club, NUHOC, check out today’s student takeover on Northeastern’s Instagram account. https://nuhoc.com/

Does this not include anyone that got in to the other campuses/programs? Waitlist? It seems so odd as we know so many kids that got in to NEU in some way. Way more common to get in here than many other schools yet this school publishes such a low rate. Does not seem to tell the whole story.
