Northeastern RD 2022

did any deferred people get into the honors program??? Havent seen one person who did. And I got the deans scholarship (obviously I, like many others, was deferred for yield protection)

Accepted to NUin:

From CT
SAT: 1400
GPA: 3.7 UW
Computer Science

@EmZoWe Not 100%, but it seems like they wanna make clear that you’re not automatically put on the waitlist because you were waitlisted, and you have to confirm your place on the list if you want to be put on it. I didn’t get waitlisted from NU, but I did from University of Pittsburgh, and the website’s similar phrasing to this had me racking my brain for a few days

Waitlisted for Computer Science + Cognitive Psychology

SAT: 1520
GPA: 4.1
Class rank: 7/277
ECs: FIRST robotics (co-captain), art club (former president), first generation club, summer program at MIT, founded an organization to give female mentors to girls interested in STEM
Essay: Pretty good (I liked it at least)
Recs: Probably really good, from teachers who I was super close with

Looking at the stats of everyone here who was rejected for CS, I thought I would be rejected. It was a pleasant surprise to be waitlisted but still kind of disappointing.

DD accepted RD
Dean’s scholarship (yea! keeps it in the running as see good fit in many ways… visit will hopefully confirm)
Major: Data Sci
Race: White, Upper middle class
Southeast
Legacy: grandfather got associate ME degree (way back when!)

Stats:
4.0 UW
5.1 W
34 ACT
8 APs (Including senior year)
EC’s (pointy): NC Governor’s School Attendee (Visual Art), Var Tennis (4 yrs, all conf, co-capt, State Sportsmanship Award, plus year-round training/State ranking maintenance); VisArt (4 state awards plus a portfolio); 50 vol hours related to these 2 activities; and little time for anything else (a couple of clubs that provided some art for is all I recall she included otherwise.)
Essays and LORs: ok (I guess, had an illness/subsequent death in family occuring at this time and only had chance to give a hasty review, submitted her art portfolio to show breadth, visited unofficially in a previous year but have tour&dept meet scheduled for next week, but she kept in touch with questions and updated portal with new awards, etc.

@koyfish1 Ugh, you’re right, it’s definitely confusing. I’m probably going to call them tomorrow or something to clarify because Northeastern is just not that high on my list. Thank you for your response and good luck!

I’m just mad cause I really wanted to go but got waitlisted because I assume they thought I was only applying to the school as a safety . Like I low key was, I’ll admit it, but its not like any of my other schools I applied will let me in cause they were all reaches so. Needed a confidence boost with Northeastern but that didn’t happen. Also I know this sounds really bitchy but I was in the range for all the other accepted applicants from my school so I thought I was K but apparently not lol. Eh I’ll get over it, thanks for listening to my rant :stuck_out_tongue:

Or maybe the simpler answer is that Im just not qualified but who knows.

Did anyone from California hear back?

@futurecollegeguy There was a round of deferred EA/RD decisions for honors that came out late Feb/Early Mar?

@EmZoWe I think @koyfish1 is correct. If you were admitted, you would not automatically be enrolled. You would have to accept your spot by making an enrollment deposit. In the same manner, you have been offered a spot on the waitlist. They will not put you on the waitlist unless you accept that spot.

It does not mean you are forced to go to NEU if you get offered a spot off the waitlist. It is just they only want people who are still interested in NEU on the waitlist so they don’t have to go through a ton of people to fill the class.

@bethanylm291 You’re right, I looked at the quote and I realized I misread it. Thank you for clarifying!

Made a college confidential just to help clarify the confusion about waitlist lol, but if you read the FAQ it says:
“Should you decide that you would no longer like to be considered for the waitlist, please notify us as soon as possible so we can withdraw your application.”
This means that when you accept the waitlist offer if you get accepted to other schools and want to enroll somewhere else just notify them to take you off the list.
I was waitlisted myself and had the same doubts but read the FAQ and it cleared stuff up for me. Best of luck to you all on the waitlist!

They offer students spots in NU.in when they can’t offer those students spots on campus first semester, but NU deems the student to be of high enough quality for NU so after people fail out and transfer there will be room after the first semester.

My son was first deferred EA, then tonight denied. 1500 SAT, (800 math) 3.71 Unweighted GPA, lots of AP Including AP Chem and EC’s. NHS, Spanish NHS, and two varsity sports… was definitely surprised… was applying for engineering. Feel sad for him as NE was was his first choice :frowning:

Rejected from comp sci, 34 ACT 4.0 uw 4.6 weighted, all that jazz. Not feelin it

@CSinPA are you sure that deferred students also got that? Because I didnt see any deferred people who were in that round.

Waitlisted for Political Science major

Worked on a congressional campaign for Conor Lamb (who won today!) and am currently working on a campaign with a state rep.
