@am9799 The entering class of 2017 was over enrolled by 300 students and no one was accepted off the waitlist that year. Northeastern has not yet published details about the entering class of 2018. Given the 2017 over enrolment and resulting housing issues they are being cautious about admits. Chances are there will be movement off the waitlist but how much no one knows.

Congratulations to those accepted and best of luck to those on waitlist
My high stat DS did not apply to Northeastern, and looking at this results thread, I’m glad that he didn’t. Some really high stat kids getting rejected or soft rejected (WL), which only goes to prove, a school with an admission rate in the low 20’s/teens is nobody’s safety school. Also, it seems Northeastern is really good at sniffing out “what the heck” applicants who have no real interest in attending. If they get that sense, your application goes right in the reject pile.

Honestly I’m not upset at all bc I thought I was gonna get rejected bc I didn’t finish my app or pay the fee until they sent an email saying I would’nt be considered. It was never a top choice but I would’ve definitely considered it. Tough since I’ve been deferred from my top 2: Tulane and UMiami and now waitlisted O well
I noticed that too.
NU is known for determining “interest” in the admissions decision. future students who apply should do the following:
- visit the school (registered visit)
- follow NU on twitter and other social media apps
- like the NU posts on social media
- write an essay specific to NU

@prouddad2020 I would add to your list: participate in online admissions webinars. Showing interest does not mean that Northeastern is your first choice but rather that it is a school you would be happy to attend. This would be particularly true for students with top stats e.g. 1550 SAT/35 ACT/3.9 UW GPA.

@prouddad2020 About the essay…NU took it out a month or so before the EA deadline, so I would advise future applicants to keep an eye on the admissions requirements (I’ve heard that they’ve taken the essay down in the past as well). No point doing more work than is needed!
