Northeastern University 2020 RD

I got accepted by Northwestern and Vanderbilt now I’m waiting on Northeastern, Princeton, and NYU

@kitkat57 My ACT is 35, 9-12 UW GPA is 3.4. AP/Honors student.

Last year it was like 18%. It was 27% in 2018

@flythehorizon i received an email last friday, the 20th, stating the following:

Dear xxxxxx,
I am writing to let you know that we will be notifying applicants of their admission decision next week. Applicants will receive an e-mail informing them that their decision is available in their Application Status Check.

I appreciate your patience awaiting your decision as I know that senior year is a stressful time to begin with and the impact of COVID-19 hasn’t lessened that stress. Please know that Northeastern is working hard to ensure the safety of our community and making plans for the educational continuity of all of our students, including our admitted Huskies.

Northeastern has been closely monitoring the COVID-19 developments in conjunction with public health officials. To further ensure the safety of our community, the university has moved to a fully-digital presence. Our admissions staff will be available to provide service via email and phone in the coming days and weeks. You can also contact your admissions counselor, xxxxx, at xxxxx@northeastern.edu, with any specific questions about your decision once it has been released.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Cheron
AVP and Dean of Admissions

Northeastern University

we all got that email yes

Unless statistics change, these are the numbers. NU has so far accepted ~6200 students from EA, ED1, and ED2. This leaves 5800 spots left going off past numbers (12,000 people accepted last year). RD currently has ~50,000 applicants in the pool, making the projected acceptance rate 11.6%

Also acceptance rate was ~16% last year.

Google is wrong.

The acceptance rate was 18% last year

The acceptance on google is from the 2016-2017 cycle

Yah didn’t have the numbers from last year so I took A wild guess. Lol

@aprillang it was 18% or so in 2018 too… that was the year my brother got in

Looks like nothing today…

My guess is they will waitlist a lot of people because it’s very likely that this year’s yield will be lower than expected.

@PitaBread147 Yeah, a lot of schools are having larger waitlists this year. However, I also think the waitlist will be more relied on so colleges can meet their target class size.

the acceptance rate will be higher than 11%. they definitely are expecting all 5,800 people to enroll, i bet the acceptance rate will be in the high teens like last year.

This is chaos haha. I got deferred from NEU and am anxiously awaiting the decisions to be released. I got into UF, FSU and Purdue. I got rejected from Georgia Tech and waitlisted from NC Stat! I’m majoring in design, either interactive or experience at Northeastern. If anyone else is applying to the design field lets talk! I haven’t seen anyone else post on here that is majoring in design.

I feel like they wouldn’t put the decisions on ivy day so its gonna come out on friday

So it has to come on either Thursday 3/26 (ivy day) or Friday 3/27.

Rationale for Thursday: NEU wants to feel fancy and release with the Ivys
Rationale for Friday: NEU wants the spotlight

What do people think? Let’s use the little reaction icons for this:
Agree- Thursday 3/26
Like- Friday 3/27

honestly it gives me peace knowing it’ll be coming in the next two days at all, but I hope it’s tomorrow I’m ready to either commit to them (since it’s my top choice if I got in) or figure out which of my other schools is the one, if I get waitlisted I’m ready to wait some more ?

Even NYU is releasing decisions next week (3/30) when they’ve previously released decisions on Ivy Day. I don’t think NEU will release tomorrow… Friday is my best bet since the AO knows that they’ll be receiving lots of calls and emails regarding fall in Boston and NUin…
