Are there any NUin acceptances who DID apply for financial aid? Noticing several posts where they did not. Wondering if there is a correlation.

Thank you!! Same to your son!! It was written in terms of semester as $14.5k (and included the maximum that could be used which was around $116k in total, covering 8 academic semesters). I assume this is because aid is only towards semesters spent in class and not semesters spent in co-op. I just doubled it and wrote it here as per year since that is typically how aid is communicated. Hope this helps!!

He just told them when he was made a fencing team captain. Nothing formal.

In your case deferral was their right choice because you sound like you would have attended UNC regardless.

Sorry for your frustration. But it is not the fault of students who applied but not serious to attend. There is one thing called safety school. Applicants who are ivy bound, duke, stanford bound may choose NU as safety net. I am sure you also apply to at least one safety school and you wouldn’t think to attend. There is someone who feel the same frustration to their application.

It’s is hurt because you care NU but this is reality. Even after you get in the school you like, you will face other frustration. Why your classmate don’t study or skip class can get an A- but you try hard can only get B+/A-.

When you work in the real world, you will see more.

My suggestion is be happy with the deferred result, maybe you end up go to NU. If unfortunately you do not, I wish you end up to a much better place.

I try to be truthful, please excuse my tone.
