can you show interest besides previous info sessions, after you submitted application? or is it too late?

Sounds like they are keeping the Boston option open for 2021 too.

My daughter is a national merit semi-finalist. She should become a finalist. Does this mean that if she decides Northeastern is where she wants to attend (already accepted with $25k merit/year), can she designate them as her first choice and she could go up to $35k/year? Or did she miss the opportunity by not placing them at number 1 yet?

From the Northeastern website:
" Students who are admitted to Northeastern and are recognized as National Merit Finalists* or National Recognition Program Scholars** will receive a competitive merit-based award, and may also be eligible for financial aid.

Northeastern National Scholarships replace any Honors, Dean’s, Connections, Sophomore Achievement, International Scholars, or other merit awards and may result in a change to previously awarded Northeastern University Grant funds.

*National Merit Finalist Deadline:
In order to be eligible for the Northeastern National Merit Finalist Scholarship, National Merit Finalists must be admitted to Northeastern and should designate Northeastern University as their college choice to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). In order to receive an updated scholarship prior to May 1, 2021, students must designate Northeastern as their college choice by the priority deadline of April 1, 2021. Finalists who list Northeastern after the priority deadline are eligible for the scholarship, but are not guaranteed to receive notification of the scholarship from Northeastern prior to May 1, 2021."

Yes, you can ask NU to reconsider their offer in light of what Tulane has given you. Just state that you would really like to attend NU, but can’t ignore the difference in net cost, which is making it a tough decision. Since these schools are similarly ranked, I think you have a high likelihood of getting an improved offer, though perhaps not $24K. I would direct the email to the financial aid office and cc the your regional admissions counselor.

Worth a try but NEU is not known for increasing merit aid based on appeal. If you ran the NPC and there is a significant difference, then it is worth pointing that out saying it is different than what you expected.

When it asks on the application if you would like to do n.u.in, it is asking whether you would prefer to do it over regular admission to the school, not whether or not you want to do the n.u.in program.

what should we include in the letter of continued interest?

@waitingforivies LOCI should include a sort of “Why Northeastern?” essay. It should show that you are familiar with what Northeastern is all about e.g. experiential learning/coop, study abroad etc. It should not be a “Why Boston” essay.

check your inbox/ or SPAM folder around a week time frame after you applied. You should get an email to reset your account password or create a new account, something like that. If you are using gmail or yahoo mail, you may type your NUID and hopeful you can search the email.

I’m wondering the same thing. And on the portal it says my account already has been created?

don’t worry too much about showing interest. I know one applicant this year accepted in EA round, has not shown any interest besides one virtual presentation early on.

contact admission office, they will help you out.

I think that’s just for the application portal - I’m talking about the Accepted Students page, which seems new. Maybe they’ll send an email soon like they did with the application portal.

Yeah same here! I would guess that they’ll send out something soon, everyone’s probably experiencing it.
