Is there a business program in NU?

No – and thats a good thing.

Students who want to go on a “business” track (finance/consulting/F500/entrepreneurship) generally are Economics, Industrial Engineering, and/or MMSS majors. Some choose to do the Kellogg Certificate program, a rigorous analytic program taught by Kellogg professors. Many do the Business Institutions minor, which offers classes in finance, accounting, marketing, and more.

Note that there is a reason most “top” schools don’t have traditional business programs – they tend to lack the hard analysis skills that many employers to look for. The common theme of the majors I listed above is a heavy emphasis on math/statistics compared to most other majors.

And what really is most important is not what major is offered, but who recruits at the university. Basically every major consulting and finance firm does on-campus recruiting at NU plus a host of major corporate programs (Target, Sears, Walgreens, Allstate) for both full-time and junior year summer internships.

Many high schoolers want to go into business and think who has the business majors (I was one of them), but dig a little bit deeper and you’ll find out what I listed above is what really matters.

Thank you soooo much! This really helped me alot!!!
