I did a college visit Tuesday at Northwestern and I LOVED the campus! I definately plan on applying even though my chances are pretty slim.

They said something like nobody will graduate with more than 20k in debt? Is that correct? If not, how are paying for the debt?

What that person said is wrong. Sure, a student may not graduate with more than $20,000 in federal loans but that figure does not include private loans.

It means that NU will not assign a financial aid package with more than 20k in debt. Thus what they calculate your need to be will be met with no more than $20,000 in loans, but that number may not match what you think you can pay.
