so i’ve been accepted to northwestern, carnegie mellon, and u mich for engineering…which are all good schools so i’ve got a complicated choice and i need help! the u.s. news ratings for engineering go as

but i can’t base this entirely on ratings…because there’s so many other factors to consider…the size of u mich…social scene at the universities, whcih i hear at northwestern is great…i’ve visited the NU campus and i loved it…but haven’t seen the other 2…
the level of academics at each…and minds of peers and things like…and basically what the college experience is like…

the thing is that i’m not 100% sure that i want to do engineering…and might want to swtich, which also has to be taken into consideration…anyways
i need help deciding cuz i gotta choose soon…feel free to comment cuz i really want and am open to all opinions.

yeah to be completely honest ull never get a feel for a school until u visit. All of those schools listed are excellent schools but you should visit the campus', see the different types of people, and see how much u like the campus/dorms.

Plenty of International Students choose colleges they've never been to.

That is really a tough choice . All top-notch colleges - similiar in most aspects. Ann Arbor is one of the best college towns though , a slight edge over Carnegie and Northwestern Similiar in academics and engineering. If you would like to switch to business perhaps , Michigans Ross is ranked above Tepper and err C.... of Northwestern.

You are the best judge of what you want. If you could plan a trip to the campusues ....do that - it should help.

do you have any ideas on what you might want to switch to? i can only speak for michigan and carnegie because i also got into both for engineering, it seems that as far as switching michigan would be the easiest, i talked to people at carnegie mellon and they tended to imply you might loose a year whereas michigan seemed more flexible. im not sure about northwestern though. even still all three schools are great and you should definitely try and visit them to get a better feel for the schools.

i don't know if i want to switch..i was just considering that as a secondary scenario in case i don't like engineering..
but i think i'll probably go in doing engineering straight away..with that in mind, and the fact that i can't visit because i live halfway across the world..what do you people suggest?

If you're considering the idea of switching majors...I think Michigan would be a good choice, as it'll offer you many options in many different directions :D hahah, no bias whatsoever!
