Why you think you were accepted/not accepted and general comments: I was most likely rejected because of my low UW GPA, which was mainly caused by a drop in grades junior year, as I had taken 5 AP’s and did not handle them well. I learned too late that it is the unweighted GPA that counts more than the weighted.

Why you think you were accepted/not accepted and general comments: Did not expect to get in, as there is nothing about me that really stands out too much. However, I did get to meet with a professor in my intended major department which A) helped me write the Why NU, B) helped me decide on applying ED, and C) showed a ton of demonstrated interest. Highly recommend reaching out to professors as they (in my experience) are welcoming and friendly. Go cats!

@wildcatz23 Nothing that makes you stand out?

1560 and 3.9uw and really good recommendations and you met with a professor in your intended major.

“Out of the 1.67 million test-takers, 7441 scored the same or higher than you.”

Congrats. And the other 1.61mm other students with a profile less stellar than yours are not surprised either.

Hey guys,
So, I got accepted to Northwestern University Class of 2023. But, I am still in high school and want to drop a course I am currently taking in high school. I was wondering if Northwestern would rescind my application if I drop Band and take on Art. I am looking for a Northwestern student, admissions officer, or just someone who knows the answer. My counsellor says I shouldn’t email Northwestern asking for the answer because it puts a target on my back. I would basically be saying “I want to slack off.” Is this true?

Thank you in advance

hi i have a question. I am applying ED next month but I am not sure about the financial aspect. I won’t get too much money from financial aid, but I was wondering do they give some merit scholarships?

They give NO merit aid. I was just at a school visit taking notes as a parent rep for our counseling department and the AO made that very clear: they will meet all demonstrated need, but NO merit aid.

Hi. Is the Founders Scholarship also merit based? This is what I found on the website:
Summary: Northwestern created the Founders Scholars Program in 2007 to honor the nine individuals who founded the University in 1850.
Eligibility: Awards are offered each year to a select group of incoming students from middle-income families. Award criteria include academic credentials, student essays, recommendations, leadership experience and potential, and academic interests. There is no application for this scholarship – eligibility will be determined during the normal financial aid review process. Renewal beyond the freshmen year requires a cumulative GPA of 3.0, which is reviewed on an annual basis. Recipients must be enrolled at least half-time to maintain eligibility. (Please note: Any reduction in tuition charges may result in a reduction of scholarship funds. Please review the Enrollment Status page for more information)
Award range: $13,200 average award. These scholarships are renewable for four years if students maintain the academic requirements noted above.
