According to the university, there are:
tuition
room and board
books and supplies
personal expenses
transportation
associated student government activity fee
athletic events fee
student health services fee
student health basic plan

Total: $53,207

I'm an international. Are there any other costs? How much more do I need to spend? Thanks!

it might be worth it to say that the evanston/chicago area is an expensive place to live, and i'd be willing to bet that the university underestimated the price of "personal expenses" depending on how often you want to venture off campus/into the city

well, it all depends on how much you want to go out.

a el ride into the city and back is about $4
a meal at a sit down restaurant will be about $15-20
a meal at a more fast-food type restaurant (like panera or chipotle) is about $7-8
cigarettes (if you smoke) are almost $8 a pack
a beer or a shot at a bar is usually around $4-6
a cube of beer from a store is about $13
museum admission downtown is about $20
concert tickets, depending on who you're seeing, are anywhere from $15-50

so just think about how much you're going to be doing each of those things

i go out to bars a fair share, i consider myself a relatively extravagant spender compared to what others spend, but i spend anywhere from $70-90 a week. for the average person? maybe $25-40?

also fraternity/sorority dues are usually anywhere from $250-600 a quarter.
