I got accepted to both Northwestern and Carnegie Mellon, but am struggling with choosing one. Northwestern gave me more financial aid, but I really liked the teacher at Carnegie Mellon. Not to say the teacher at Northwestern was bad, but I was just more impressed with the teacher Carnegie Mellon. I am not really sure how these two schools are ranked in relation to each other either...

Both are fine universities.
Music IS an individual choice/fit, though.
Compare studio teachers and studios (peers/peer quality)? – (Obviously, your scenario depends on your instrument/studio). How much will you grow?
Ensemble opportunities? Gig opportunities?
City - arts/culture - Northwestern is extraordinary in that - you can go w/NU students to see CSO anytime, it’s great, not to mention thousands of other things like that.
Personal fit with the studio teacher is an impt. consideration, just make sure s/he is likely to stay throughout your time at the school.
You might make a list with two columns, because both places likely have strengths, weaknesses, and neutral factors for you.

What’s your instrument? Just curious.

I play the oboe. I’m asking for more money from CMU, which we already did once… We can’t really afford to attend either right now. Ugh, this is so stressful.

Ah. I’m sorry. I hope all works out for you! Fingers crossed! I really hate when it comes to money. Colleges are too expensive.
