I’d go NU!

Well said. Knowing both schools I think you provided a great comparison overall A few things to add: Evasnton is dead at night,Ann Arbor isn’t- lots of late night eatieries for when you studying. Easier to find off campus housing at UMich. There’s a office that mainatins an inventory and helps students. Both schools are very friendly midwest schools.

I think NU is the better school but Michigan has a better social life…

In my opinion that completely depends on how you gauge the quality of your social life.

I also want to emphasize the social life aspects of both schools.

As others have iterated, Evanston can be socially dead at night; the downtown area isn’t very student-centered (i.e., businesses often close before 11:00pm). Burger King was the only place I could remember that was open 24/7. When I was an undergrad, I lived on South Campus my entire four years so that I was closer to the downtown area. As a tourist destination, Evanston has very nice restaurants and retail stores (Chicago’s wealthiest suburbs are located just north of the university).

Michigan is well-integrated within downtown Ann Arbor. The downtown neighborhoods consist of several zones (South University, State Street, Liberty Street, Kerrytown, and Main Street). Each zone has student housing, restaurants, bars, and stores that are often open late. Although the retail experience is lacking, there is free shuttle service to Briarwood Mall (which has Macy’s, JCPenney’s, and Sears).

That’s why I argued that Ann Arbor is more student-centered than Evanston.

Our D considers the “quality” of her social life is less dependent on the number of 24-hour restaurants (and btw there are more than Burger King now) than on the qualities of the peers she’s socializing with, and she says that absolutely everyone she’s met at NU has done (and is currently doing) extraordinary things. In my experience, hanging out with amazing peers can go a lot further in building a worthwhile social life than any other factor.

Also remember that Ann Arbor hosts 5X as many students as Evanston. ;-D

There are?! The current students get all the cool stuff…

D says nearby late-night/24-hour hangouts include Clarke’s, Fran’s, Lisa’s, Steak-n-Shake, Burger King, but mostly students spend time on campus or at friend’s apartments.

Okay, let’s look at the rest of the list…

Michigan State

Notre Dame lower than ^ ???

UPenn really that far down the list?

NYU same question as above.

Surprised that Business leaders ranked Stern and Wharton that low.
And I could pick out dozens of examples of other X school is ranked higher than Y schools.
I can easily tell why you choose this list for a reason and did not compare NU to UMich’s 52.

Oh those are all late night, but BK is still the only 24/hr place.
