I'm looking into pursuing a career in hedge funds, private equity, or investment banking. Would I have more opportunity coming from Northwestern (assuming Econ major and certificate in Financial Economics) or UVA (assuming Finance major from McIntire) in this competitive field?

bump…

i would decide based on what courses you like. at NU you will have to take a lot of math and econ( the econometrics sequence is brutal) if you wanna get into the certificate program. at uva you could take business classes. all being equal I would go with NU and certificate.

Assuming you get into UVAs business school, isn’t it the best Business school in the country right now (above Wharton). Are you in state for UVA? Because I really think you’d be better off going there… dunno. I would definite compare the cost of attending both schools.

Also have you visited both places? Don’t just go to school based on job prospects. You should ENJOY your 4 years of college, not just stare at the light at the end of the tunnel.
