Many thanks for the advice, everyone. I think that it is going to come down to Vanderbilt or Johns Hopkins. After doing the final financial aid calculations, Vandy will cost me 8k a year before books/out-of-pocket expenses, and Hopkins will cost 28K a year. Essentially, the difference will be $80k over four years. I don’t know what to do, I’m losing sleep over this :(

Oh, I didn’t see the numbers before I responded to your PM. 80K is not chicken feed, even for future engineers.

Maybe the weather will be bad in Baltimore when you visit, and the decision will be easier!

Don’t lose sleep yet. Wait until after you visit Hopkins.

Hmmm, let’s see…

Cornell and Johns Hopkins have nationally ranked mens’ Division1 Lacrosse squads, usually ranked in the top 3. Northwestern and Vanderbilt have no idea what Lacrosse is.

"Northwestern and Vanderbilt have no idea what Lacrosse is. "

I guess you’ve never heard of the NU women’s lacrosse team. ::shakes her head::

Uhh, NU’s women’s lax team is referred to on lax boards as the “Evil Empire”, residing in “Evilston” (neither Cornell’s or JHU’s men’s lax teams garner that much hatred/envy).
