Not a senior yet, but still worried. i will be a junior this upcoming fall

so i'm new to College confidential but... here goes.
i'm a 1st generation 16 year old asian and i'm going into my junior year this fall and i really want to excel.

My GPA thus far (including freshman year):
3.25 UW (no weighted :/ i haven't taken any honors/ap classes yet.)

Haven't taken the SAT yet but from the looks of it I'm probably looking at a ~2200. I'm working on boosting it higher, though.

EC's: nonexistant. :| but i want to volunteer at a hospital throughout the school year. and also, during the spring season, i want to play on the volleyball team.

I want to ultimately get accepted to Medical School - preferably one in california as I live in california (bay area, if that makes a difference).

I'm going to be taking:
Math Analysis (which is applying real world concepts to math, it's the stepping stone to taking calculus.)
Honors American Literature
Regular US History
Spanish 3
Physiology/anatomy
Adv. Drama

Since American Literautre Honors is going to be my ONLY weighted class, i really want to add some more in (like maybe transfer from ordinary us history to AP us history?) And then take another science class if my guidance counselor will let me (physics honors).

but at this point, is any entrance to prestigious schools plausible? I want to get into schools like UC berkeley, stanford (lol. yeah right), or princeton...
but i also am drawn to uc davis because of their relatively non-cut throat atmosphere.

rate my chances to getting into any of these schools :/? and also what i can do to improve them (such as my gpa and EC) cause none of the clubs in school interest me in the least bit not even community service (lol) and so yeah.

also, i want to get into med school to become a dermatologist. yeah :) hard road ahead. but i forgot to mention: i can write a pretty good essay if required.
Thanks :)

Your GPA is low. If you want to be even considered to Princeton or the UCs you have to have about 5 APs under your belt by Senior Year. Since you want to be a doctor you should take higher levels of Math and Science, as well. Take about 2-3 APs this year and maybe 3-4 Honors Classes so you at least stand a chance. You have absolutely no EC, which isn’t good. Colleges like Princeton don’t just want smart people they want passionate people. You seriously need to focus on boosting your ECs. They could be Sports, Arts, Music, etc. anything you like to do and can invest much time in. And also a 2200 on the SATs is very difficult to achieve, but by all means shoot for that score. Your chances aren’t very good, but hey these days no ones chances are quite high. And the fact your Asian could really hurt your chances as well seeing as how the Asian pool at colleges is unbelievably high and hard to get into.

(I’m in the same boat as you. Ill be a Junior this fall and my GPA isn’t stellar either (3.15 UW, 3.63 W). I’ve taken 4 APs so far and about 10 Honors Classes. I really want to go to an Ivy but my chances are screwed because of my GPA. I’m hoping that my SAT score (2340) and my URM status (black) will help.) Don’t give up on Princeton or Berkley but if it doesn’t work out there are still dozens of great schools that will take you.

Best Of Luck
