Not happy! - Got an email from Princeton Review about ACT Prep may be cancelled!

Nobody ever said when I paid all that money that maybe the class wouldn’t actually happen. Daughter is a rising senior - is going to have to start applying to colleges before you know it and is enrolled to take the ACT in September. Much of reason I chose this course was location and timing grrrr. Has this happened to anyone else?

All the time. There are a ton of test prep companies. For us, our students did test prep classes and individual tutoring which worked out better.

You may want to look into online classes as they can be flexible with timing.

Yes. You just have to choose another location. Not worth getting annoyed about.

@HRSMom the other locations they gave me were not even in my STATE! – they were like 40 miles away. THAT is not going to work so well. That said, we chose an LiveOnline option. She had to figure out with her boss about her job too – most of the options had weekends, but one of them was late Sunday so that works out.

I’d go on Craigslist and see if there were any convenient tutors on there. Tutors who are not getting enough hours from the big test companies usually freelance for extra money anyway… why not go right to the source and get yourself one of their tutors and cut out the middle man?

They are irresponsible, selling then cancelling. But we have zero recourse!

There are many ups and downs and twists and turns on the path to your college. The slightest for us was having to send and resend over and over SAT scores to a college who kept saying they didn’t have them. The worst was an ivy who never acknowledged getting the application though we had confirmation, and hence didn’t render a decision. Hopefully this is just a bump in the road, and the rest of your journey will be smooth sailing. But then again, you can expect a few more.

@preppedparent OYE!! It is always something – this is our fifth and last child to be applying/attending college - so TIRED!! :((

^ You have much more experience in college application than many parents of first child applying to college.
I like your username.

@coolweather I do and have learned SO much! It did take until the 3rd of 5 before hubby and I were really on our game though – #1 and #2 managed to find their own affordable ‘fit’ colleges with very little intervention from us and we had no idea until #3 that it was not all that easy!

^^there is a learning curve to all this. For preppedstudent #1, totally caught off guard. For preppedstudent #2 much more in the know. I am done. Don’t have a horse in any more races, but I come on because if I can I want to help others thru this difficult process which takes some skill.
