Not reporting a college that you went to?

Ok so basically i am in a very bad situation right now my father recently died and i got very bad grades at the school i transffered to last semester i had a 3.9 gpa with 30 credits and my first college then i took a semester off and transferred to a different college where i got a 2.75 gpa with 15 credits. I am very depressed and sad right now and i do not think i will get into any of the college i want to apply to if i report the 15 credits from the college i attended last semester because my gpa dropped from a 3.9 to a 3.5. I am wondering is there any way for a college to ever find out that i went to the college last semester if i do not report it? There are no public recorded online or anywhere that i have seen with my name and info saying that i attended the college, i am just wondering if there is another way that schools can find out? I am from the UK so i am on a student visa and i am wonderring could they find out that way?? is it possible for a college to find out some way that i attended the college last semester if i do not report it. i am planning on saying that i only went to one college where my gpa was a 3.9. i know this is risky but i am in a very very bad situation right now, any insight on the issue. INB4 i know its a bad idea and i should not do it but if you knew my life and my whole situation i dont really have a choice and i am not going to try to get my grades up by attending somewhere else for another year or semester, i am planning on apply for january

Your written speech seems to indicate that you are not from an English-speaking country so let me enlighten you:
You will be caught; they always find out. You are on a student visa, think about that for a second. How could there NOT be a public record considering your VISA??

This is called lying to the university and you appear to be willing, at all costs, to cover up your most recent grades. Doesn’t that make you feel badly? If not, get ready to see home really soon.

One of the things they make you sign is your understanding of what your signature and word represent in being honest and truthful for admission. If your information is not true or accurate, you run the risk of being expelled and deported. Is that what you ultimately want?

How could you lie to the university and then live with yourself? It will always, always haunt you and it will come back to nip you in the bud!!!

Like i said, i am in a bad situation. I am not looking for a moral response, i am just asking will they find out yes or no? I am the one being at a loss here since i did pay for the 15 credits that i will not be reporting and i did waste half of year of my time. Can you please explain more about the National Student Clearinghouse? Will the college that i am applying to run my name or something through a system and will all my personal information show up? How will it get linked to me since there are probably numerous people with the same name as me?

^ the two above posters clearly stated that you will more than likely get caught in the lie and get deported. And you’re asking for some understanding that you’re in a bad situation? My sympathies, but by lying about this, you’ll be in a worse situation.

I would advise against lying about this. I’m not sure how colleges work, but a simple background check would put everything on the table. I’m not sure how visas from GB to USA works but they can and will track you down even if you have a common name.

I use the National Clearinghouse for work. You can put in someone’s name or ssn or visa number and find them within a few seconds. Almost all colleges use it, many employers do too, as do companies like mine-an international health insurance company. I use it to verify where doctors went to school and it is extremely thorough and will show schools/internships/fellowships that are not listed on the applications I process. So yes, they will find out.

And, 3.5 is not a terrible GPA. It is not as strong as a 3.9, but you need to examine how/why you got a 2.75 and deal with those issues. That and your future grades are what you need to be worrying about.

I’m joining ever other members here to say that it’s a very bad choice not to report. Beyond the moral aspects, it is just plain stupid since schools do check and they have a very easy way to find out about prior college attendance.

You do have a choice: bad or worse.

YES, they will find out and you will be expelled.

Everyone’s right. You’ll be caught very easily. It makes much more sense to report the grades and offer your explanation. Colleges know that students are human beings and sometime life happens.

Why do you keep transferring between colleges?

You’re a guest in this country looking for advice on how to scam your next college? Here’s a better idea: do us all a favor and go home.

^ A little harsh don’t you think? But I cosign what everyone is saying.
