Not sure what to do

Hey! This is my first post so please bear with me…
I am facing a huge dilemma: At Miami of Ohio, I got into the business school, but the cost of the school is a huge issue. At University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, I didn’t apply to the business school; I applied to general studies. Looking back, there was a box for second choice major; I should have done business as my first choice and general studies ads my second but too late for that now. I don’t know what to do. I can apply for an ICT into the business school second semester, but what if they don’t accept me? I don’t know what I’d do then! I really love both schools. I prefer the distance of Illinois and how I know more people there. But Miami isn’t bad either. I’m at such a cross road and it’s really stressing me out. My counselor said it’s hard to get into the business school at UIUC, which is why I’m worried that I won’t get in. Anybody have any suggestions/ever experienced this problem before? I would really appreciate any input. Thanks so much!

I would call admissions at UIUC and tell them this. It is not a test, with deadlines. They are presumably still reading applications- ask if they can read your application for the Business school as well, so that you have all the information you need. Also call Financial Aid at Miami and tell them your dilemma. Let the people who have the power to help you do their job. Good luck!

I’ve already called financial aid at Miami; my GPA is just barely too low to get any merit money and I won’t get any from FAFSA. I’m going to go see my counselor and ask about asking UIUC to consider my application for the business school - I was thinking that earlier! I will update what happens! Thank you!!

Think about taking a course at a community college as dual enrollment with high school credit over this summer to goose your GPA. Then re-inquire at Miami (if they have some “automatic” merit awards). Good luck. Maybe @MiamiDAP has further suggestions?
