Hello I am currently a senior in HS and I was wondering if I should take AB Calculus online instead of in person so that I could take another class in school (regular elective like another math class). I plan on majoring in business and applying to some competitive schools (e.g. Northeastern, Villanova, Emory, Umich) and some people tell me that this won’t look as nice on my transcript since it won’t show I’m taking it online. However, my guidance counselor told me she would write it in her letter of rec that I’m taking it online. PLUS I feel like I have enough classes to worry about right now and AB Calc is just adding to the toll. I’m just kinda worried it’ll look like I’m taking the easier route, which I admit I definitely am. My math teacher is known all around the county for being really really difficulty and I feel like I’d struggle to even get a B in the class (which is really good considering the class avgs). Any thoughts?
If I’m understanding this correctly, your high school offers AP Calc but the teacher is very hard so you want to take it online instead and take an elective instead. This is not going to look good. The only good reason for taking a class on line instead of in person is if there is a conflict with another core course. Why would you want your GC to highlight that you are doing this? It is going to look like you are gaming the system.
So if it conflicts with another core class then that should be the only reason I take AB online?
nvm about the question dumb question^^^
