June 2007-Aug. 2007 Tutor for Fourth Grader
June 2007-Aug. 2007 Tutor for Fifth Grader

I ALSO ENJOY ENCOURAGING KIDS TO GO TO COLLEGE, THEY ARE NEVER TO YOUNG TO LEARN ABOUT THE POWER OF EDUCATION, AND I LOVE WORKING WITH THEM.

In conclusion…
I love Social Sciences therefore, I am planning to go into Political Science, and later becoming a well-known, respected and respectable, noble Politician (might sound hard to imagine) in the future. The main thing on my agenda will be Education, and try to get members of communities who usually do not attend a four year institution, into one.

I may not be academically strong compared to many of other applicants, but my passion is doing unconditional community service to others. I am inspired to serve, to inspire others, (I don’t know if that makes sense to anyone).

Any feedback, both positive and negative, would be awesome.

yay minorities~
i hope you get in

What is AVID?
You have a disturbing pattern of B's in your honors and AP classes.
You need top SAT scores, but you knew that.

6 Bs is not a disturbing pattern. Just go ahead and apply, no one on this board is making the admissions decision and most of them aren't even in college themselves, so take their advice with a grain of salt...

6 Bs is not a disturbing pattern.

It is, when each and every honors or AP class attempted resulted in a B, and there are no AP classes until Junior year. It suggests lack of ability to handle a demanding load. Furthermore, course schedule listed is not particularly demanding, at least when looked outside the context of the particular high school and the applicant's circumstances.

The minority status and ECs may overcome this, but nobody here can tell you that with any degree of certainty.

Your SATs will keep you out surely.

your grades arent even close to good enough, your sat scores..to put it bluntly..suck, and your ECs arent anything to brag abt so id say a no

trust me, i go to Harvard (unlike all of these other people posting). you're grades aren't the end of the world. so, just go ahead and apply. there's no guarantee that you'll be accepted, but if you don't apply then you'll def get rejected.

^i'm sure that's true, but the OP's SAT scores are extremely low for Harvard. My guess is that you'll be rejected....but what do i know? Apply and hope for the best.

If you can get your grades up and dramatically improve your SAT scores, you might have a chance. Harvard would hope that those B's aren't you working at your maximum capacity, so you would certainly need to prove them wrong. Your SAT score is barely above average, with a percentile rank somewhere in the 50's. That certainly would hurt you.

For example, if Harvard's applicant pool were composed of normally-distributed high school seniors, representing the full range of SAT scores, you still wouldn't be anywhere near the top 9% (although Harvard admissions isn't based solely on SAT scores). You would be in the middle. But the reality is the Harvard applicant pool is skewed enormously to the right.

SAT Critical Reading: 690 - 800
SAT Math: 700 - 790
SAT Writing: 690 - 780

Your class rank and college experience will be a help, but you really need to work hard on your SAT scores.

1540 out of 2400 is barely over the bottom 25% of **2 sections**.

Affirmative action isn't that strong.

Harvard: REJECT

If you apply, you'll most certainly get rejected. If you don't apply, you won't get rejected; they don't have to make that choice.

The B's in classes are the least of his problems.. He is top 2 percent so it's not that bad.. the SAT score is what will hurt.. just aim forl ike at least 650 on each part.. and pray.. if not take the ACT..who knows you might fair better..anyways good luck and don't let people on this board discourage you.. though im sure their just trying to give their realistic point of view
