I understand and I will still apply to those colleges, but what about talking about my class rank on additional info like my counselor recommended?

To be honest – this is a hard call.

First – given that your GC is more qualified than I am, I never ever recommend going against GC advice.

What I’m not sure about is what the advice is.

It seems like the GC doesn’t want to expound about rank (which is probably correct – it is what it is, and colleges should know your HS reputation). His/her response to include it elsewhere could because you pressed the issue. However, I wasn’t in the room with you and the GC, so I don’t know.

Perhaps a sentence somewhere to make your point. I don’t know that I’d do more than that.

Good luck!

To be frank talking about how competitive your school is and your rank in your essay will come across as whiny. Yes, your school is competitive. Right now there are 69 people ahead of you from that school. If your school is well known to top schools then they will understand how to evaluate you. There is a reason the schools you mentioned practice holistic admissions. They will evaluate your rank, grades, scores, ECs, recommendations and everything else. Rank is just one small part.

Good luck at Community College

don’t listen to laxbrah, you’ll do fine. I’m sure a few state schools will be willing to take a chance with you. all of your other credentials look fine.

Whoops sorry. Thanks for all your help in this thread zephyr!

My school is ranked 3rd or 4th for publics depending on which rank you look at, and we simply don’t rank. It surprises me that more rigorous schools dont take this approach…

Our school definitely shouldn’t rank, I feel like anyone in the top 50 could be valedictorian at other schools.
