Notebooks

anyone purchasing new ones for fall? im kind of deciding between

1) dell, vaio sony
2) gateway, toshiba
3) hp

i dont like hp that much; my first choice is either a dell, which is cheaper, or a vaio, which looks awesome. i've never used a mac b4 so i think ill stick with windows. vaio looks soooo good but dell is so much cheaper.

what r u guys planning to get

Yeah, I don't like hp either. I've heard that a lot of people have had problems w/ dell, but it is cheaper. vaios are really cute, but more expensive right? Toshibas would make for a good middle ground, I think. They are good computers (as long as you don't spill water on them like I did with mine) and you can get new ones for pretty cheap. I'm sorry that my reply is so general, but I figure that I won't look into specifics until later on this summer. Maybe they'll come out w/ either new computers or older computers will get marked down.

I have an HP with XP home, and it works 100% fine (knock on wood), but I bought it the fall of my senior year. Wellesley computing people, HOWEVER hate HPs with a passion and would rather you didn't buy one. And make sure you have XP professional too. Those are the two huge things you need to know.

i just found out a vaio satisfying the wellesley demands (wireless, 2GHz, XP professional... ) is gonna cost almost 3k :(

Yikes! That's a pretty penny eh?

i have a vaio and a dell laptop..they're both awesome but id ont think the extra 1500 i paid for the vaio was worth it...i suggest a dell!
