I realize that many schools notify the admitted students as the decisions are made, but is there some official "notification date" for law schools by which all the students are notified? Do all have May 1 deadline for the students to accept the offer, or does it vary?

I think my kid's seat deposit is due by 4/15 for most of his schools which infers that this is the date by which the bulk of applicants will have heard. Based on the various law school sites, there are stories about people getting admitted or getting off a wait-list as of the first week of classes.

Interesting that most of the schools take the seat deposit in stages...a few hundred in April, and the balance in June. I guess some people might put down the first seat deposit at more than one school while they're waiting to hear about financial aid.

My kid still hasn't heard from 3 schools. One he expected to be an easy "admit," and the other two were far reaches. He applied back in October with a Dec. updated LSAT. One of the probable rejection schools asked for his Fall grades, which might mean a possible waitlist?!? (At this rate, they may be asking for his Spring grades!)

On LSN, it appears that some applicants are just now getting around to submitting applications.

My kid was waitlisted at his #1 choice. He was told that he's "high" on the waitlist, but that they won't start taking applicants off their wait list until May. I gather every school is different, though.
